CLASSES, WORKSHOPS AND EVENTS

This page has a listing of many of the possibilities for classes that I teach, but it isn't where I keep the most up-to-date schedule of classes.  Look on our blog for the current class schedule... If there's a class listed here that you'd like to take, let me know & I'll see if I can get it scheduled!
Visit us at Radiance, a shop & studio that my daughter, Kara & I have in downtown Lancaster!  It's located at 9 W Grant St, right across the brick alleyway from Central Market.  Our telephone number is 717-290-1517.  Hours are Tuesday thru Friday 10 am to 5 pm, and Saturday 9 am thru 4 pm.  We try to keep the schedule of classes being held at Radiance up to date on our blog, so check there.  You can also subscribe to our class announcement newsletter at the subscribe box on the home page of this web site.

In addition to my herbal products, we have hand-made items made by local artisans from natural materials, including my own plant-dyed clothing, and hand-spun and dyed yarns from Rachel-Marie.  We also have a fabulous selection of Fair Trade items from the global community, including Tibetan prayer flags, singing bowls and travel meditation altar boxes, hand-woven grass market baskets from Ghana, and beautiful purses made from recycled silk saris.  We have earrings from Nepal, and beautiful hand-batiked wall hangings & clothing from the south Pacific.  And we have hand-tied smudge sticks from Native Scents in New Mexico.

RITES OF PASSAGE

A class in the Reclaiming Tradition

Cultures across the world celebrate their own Rites of Passage to mark important stages and events in the lives of individuals.  This core class in the Reclaiming Tradition will use pairs and group trance, dreams, myth, storytelling and ritual to step into the mystery and explore personal change, healing and transformation.  Supported by guides and allies, tracing the otherworld route to our own places of power, we will move in and out of trance and dream states to explore and deepen our understanding of the process by which we change, as we each become the main character in our own myth.  We will learn and use powerful techniques of focusing and directing attention to further deepen our initiatory experience together.  The class will culminate with ceremonies honoring our transformation.  Class facilitated by Sarah Preston Campbell and Jen Frey.

When:  Six Friday evenings, between July 9 and September 3, 2010, with no class on August 6, 20 or 27.  6:30 to 9:30.

Where: Radiance, 9 W Grant St., Lancaster PA, across the cobblestones from Central Market

Cost:  Sliding scale $185 to $150

Prerequisite:  Elements of Magic class, or equivalent experience.

ELEMENTS OF MAGIC

This is the first of the core classes in the Reclaiming Tradition, and is a prerequisite for all other core classes.  It is a wonderful class for beginners, and for those who already have a developed practice and want to focus on the Elements and grow within that practice.

Deepen your vision and focus your will, empowering yourself to act in the world.  Practice magic by working with the Elements: Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Spirit.  Techniques include drumming, singing, sacred dance, breath work, visualization, sensing, projecting and raising energy, chanting, trance work, creating magical space, spell crafting, and structuring meaningful ritual.  We hope to provide a nurturing environment for all participants.

Prerequisite: Read the first six chapters of The Spiral Dance by Starhawk.  The book is available on this web site, or at Radiance, 9 W Grant St.

Please be committed to attending all 6 classes.   Cost is on a sliding scale of $185 to $155, & includes a copy of the book.  For more information or a registration flyer, email me

I try to offer this class at least once each year.  If these dates don't work for you & you would like to organize a class for a small group of your friends, contact me to discuss arrangements.  This class can be taught once a week for 6 weeks, or as a weekend retreat.

Any of the following classes can be offered to your group.  Keep in mind that I'm in Lancaster, PA, and am willing to travel about an hour each way to facilitate a presentation.  Contact me to make arrangements.

 MOTHER EARTH HARVEST FAIRE

Sunday, October 3,  2010, Glen Rock, PA

This is the 5th annual Harvest festival at the site of the well-known Spoutwood Faerie Festival.  The Mother Earth Harvest Faire celebrates the spirit of the Fall season and Autumnal Equinox, one of two points in the year where the length of day equals the length of night.  The Fair celebrates healthy people working for and enjoying a healthy planet. Partly we pay tribute to the simple traditions and values of harvest festivals of the past where apples are pressed into cider, garden and farm bounty is proudly displayed, and the animals used to plow our fields or to clothe and nourish us are lavishly appreciated. In the spirit of good old-fashioned fun we'll have country dancing in the big barn, lots of other music and storytelling, harvest craft activities for kids, a Mother Earth Nature Poetry Marathon, good food for all tastes and natural and folk crafts to marvel and delight.

For more info go to www.spoutwood.com

Searching for the Goddess in Nature
Finding the Divine Within

I was honored to be leading this retreat Friday October 17 thru Sunday October 19, 2008

Deep inside each of us, an ancient wisdom lies sleeping.  Our ancestors understood the divine nature of the Living Earth and how it is that we are woven into the sacred web of life.  Our bodies still know.

During this experiential weekend, we will use song and movement, stillness and contemplation, storytelling, the labyrinth, altar-building and art-making to connect to and deepen this vision.

Held at the Murray Grove Conference Center in Lanoka harbor, NJ, and sponsored by Women & Religion of the Joseph Priestley District of the Unitarian Universalist Association.
