The large, velvety leaves of the mullein plant make a soothing herbal tea. The soothing mucilages of mullein coat sore throats and make coughing more productive. As an ingredient in salves and poultices, they have the same soothing effect on the skin.
Dried leaf also makes a smoking herb, and is one of the herbs in the traditional sacred smoking blend kinnick kinnick.
Mullein is a tall biennial plant with a single stalk up to 6-1/2 feet (2 meters) bearing whorls of leaves and topped with a spike yellow flowers.
Can also be used as a hair rinse for lightening blond hair.
