A specific remedy in homeopathy for relief of extreme tension, especially in the neck & shoulders. Keep a little Agrimony in your workspace to relieve conflicts with co-workers. An infusion makes a good soak for drawing out splinters. The tea protects against viral infections including Hep B, and supports the liver function.
A lovely tea by itself or in combination with other herbs. Alfalfa is very nourishing, and helps to support healthy digestive function. Increases saliva & is said to correct the pH levels in the stomach, so is good for those with hyperacidity. Good source of Iron & other minerals.
Alkanet root powder
English herbalists of the 19th century steeped Alkanet in wine to make a treatment for depression. Some modern herbalists use Alkanet as a cough & colds remedy. Its content of rosmarinic acid is antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory & antioxident. The root makes a gorgeous red dye for fabrics & for coloring lip balms.
Allspice, whole
Certified Organic. (Pimenta dioica) gets its name from the unique combination of aromas, a blending of the tastes of cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg with just a little peppery heat. Frequently used with cardamom, cinnamon, and/or green tea. Perfect addition to pound cake, I also like to include it in my Peach Cordial. 2 ounce bag
Angelica Root
is the European cousin of Dong-Quai. Sweet, warming & nourishing, relieves loss of appetite & spasms in the digestive system. Angelica is a good remedy for colds, and to treat the pain of hacking cough. It is effective for menstrual cramps, & can help to strengthen thinning vaginal tissue in menopausal women. Soothing treatment for urinary tract infections.
Annatto seed
Primarily used for its color, Annato seed makes a good plant dye for natural fibers, yielding a range of reds and oranges. A newly discovered health benefit of annatto is its antioxidant properties, which protect DNA from mutations induced by UV light, superoxides, or peroxides, hence its inclusion in skin care products. 3 oz bag
whole pods, organically grown. There has been some speculation that this herb may be quite helpful in treatment of the much-talked-about avian flu. Here’s hoping! Make your own tincture or add it to your teas.
Arnica Flowers
Great for infusing in oils to make massage oils or salves for sore & achy muscles. I infuse in alcohol to make a rubbing linament, too. You could add to bath teas for the same purpose. Even helps to prevent bruising. Arnica should not be used internally except for homeopathic arnica.
A naturally powdered root starch. Certified organic in Oregon, this powder is suitable for use in cooking or cosmetic products. Makes a beautiful, silky body powder! Scent lightly with your choice of essential oils, and voila!
