Slippery Elm bark (Ulmus fulva)

$5.50

Category:

Native Americans used slippery elm in healing salves for wounds and skin inflammation. Also taken orally to relieve coughs, sore throats, diarrhea, and stomach problems. Contains mucilage, a substance that becomes a slick gel when mixed with water. Coats and soothes the mouth, throat, stomach, & intestines.

Contains antioxidants that help relieve inflammatory bowel conditions. Causes helpful stimulation of nerve endings in the gastrointestinal tract leading to increased mucus secretion, which may protect the gastrointestinal tract against ulcers and excess acidity. Soothing to everything it touches from the mouth & throat through to the stomach and intestines.

Extremely nutritive as well. Wonderful in throat lozenges. Include powder in oatmeal for those dealing with anorexia. Gentle, effective laxative, too.
